Remodel Continues

The tile has been replaced, the walls have been painted and the sink and cabinet are new. I don't want to show the after picture until everything is back in its place. Scott still has the molding to put on and the doors need to be re attached, and of course the new shower curtain needs to be hung. Normally a bathroom remodel wouldn't be very exciting to me, but this is the first place we have owned, so to be able to re do a room the way we want is a luxury.

I am still knitting on the felted bag. I have been a bit under the weather so I am not knitting as much as I would like. I am not going to post a picture of my progress yet, as it is not very interesting. I think I must be the slowest knitter in the world!

The Before Picture

Today Scott is working on remodeling the bathroom. As you can see by the picture, it is in dire need of a remodel. The tile will be replaced, the cabinet with the sink, the shower curtain, the paint on the wall. When it is finished I will post an after picture.

Tonight I am still working on the felted bag. I thought it would go a lot faster than it is. Tomorrow I think I will make a trip to the LYS, I want to get the new issue of Vogue Knitting.

Felted Bag Continues

I am still working on the felted bag, I won't bore you with another picture as it would look similar to the last one. I have been exhausted this week with the new job. Trying to get use to getting up several hours earlier than I am use to has been hard. I love the job though.

I did get some knitting in at the Seattle Stitch N' Bitch group last night. I might get the bag finished this weekend. I really want to get back to the Flower Basket Shawl, but my niece's birthday is in a few weeks and I need to get her present finished.

Felted Bag

You can't tell by looking at it, but the picture is of a felted bag I am making for my niece's birthday. The pattern is from Fiber Trends. I am using Noro Kureyon 120 and Cascade 220 yarn. I have put down the Flower Basket Shawl for a while and need to get this done as quickly as possible. You can't disappoint a 7 year old, especially when she requested this as a gift. Finished photo hopefully soon.

Flower Basket Shawl SOS

I ended up with an error in the Flower Basket Shawl that I couldn't fix. Thanks to Jessica, who kindly helped me, the FBS was back on track. I was able to knit another 10 row repeat without any trouble. I knew it wouldn't last. I've just spent the past hour tinking back and trying to figure out where the error was in the shawl. I think I have figured it out and will continue on. I don't know why I have such trouble following a pattern. For the life of me I don't know why I forget yarn overs all the time. I must have ADD.

Northwest Women's Show

I probably won't be blogging much in the next few days as I will be manning a booth at the Northwest Women's Show. I have never been to the Women's Show, but I have heard that it is a lot of fun! I wish my booth was knitting related, but I'm afraid it is for the insurance company I currently work for. My new job starts on Monday and I am really looking forward to it.

Tonight I will be dropping by the Fiber Gallery to get some help with my Flower Basket Shawl. I tried to correct a mistake and I have actually made it worse. Hopefully it can be saved.

A New Job

I was offered the job I had been hoping for today!!! Yeah, I can buy some new yarn. I will be working in downtown Seattle again. I am really excited, the people I will be working with are very nice and the company culture seems to fit with my personality. Time to celebrate!

Flower Basket Shawl

I frogged the last two rows and now I am back on track with the Flower Basket Shawl. The hardest part for me is keeping track of where I am in the pattern, and remembering to do YO's. I think I will do some extra repeats so that it will be more of a shawl than a scarf.

I am frustrated with Blogger. I use to be able to post a photo and then go in and edit the post and include the photo and my writing in the same post. Now if I try to edit the post, I lose the link to the photo. Arggg!!!

First Attempt at Lace

I have begun work on the Flower Basket Shawl. It is my first attempt at lace and has gone pretty well so far. Actually, I am going to have to frog my last two rows as I forgot a yarn over some where, ugh! I am knitting it in red using Lamb's Pride. I'm too tired tonight to post a picture, but I will try to get one posted tomorrow. I got inspiration for this project from Jessica and Marti's finished shawls. I thought theirs looked so lovely in red I decided to copy.

Knitting Companion

Tonight I decided to stay in and knit. Scott is working and I have my faithful knitting companion McKenzie at my side. He just turned 5 and has been a joy to have as a pet. He is a kind and gentle dog.

I am working on Scott's sweater, trying to finish the back so that I can get started on the front. I have way too many projects going that I never seem to get any of them finished. Oh well, some day I will probably finish all of them at the same time.

Dulaan Project Hat

I finished my first Dulaan Project hat. I'm not crazy about the colors, but I enjoyed knitting up the pattern. It was really simple and quick. You can find Norma's pattern here. I knit the hat with some old acrylic yarn I had lying around, hence the strange color combo. I hope to work up some other hats, scarves and socks in more appealing colors.

No Knitting

Today is one of the few days where I actually did not knit. It is rare as I find it a nice way to unwind at the end of a day. Today I was just too busy.

It has also been a bit of an unsettling day. There was a murder this morning a block away from us. Seems a man killed his father with an ax. Also, Mt. St. Helens erupted, but the ash did not come our way, thank goodness!

I am still waiting to hear about the job I have interviewd for, I should know in the next few days. I hope I get it, I would love to work in downtown Seattle again.

Tomorrow, I will try to make up for my lost knitting time today and work extra long on my many projects.

Dulaan Project

I cast on tonight for the Dulaan Project. It is a project to clothe children in Mongolia. I am using some left over yarn to knit a child's hat. I hope to use up a lot of my extra yarn knitting items for this worthy cause. Jessica has knit some cute hats!

The website for the Dulaan Project has links to several patterns of items that are needed. The deadline for this year is July 1st. They will be donating items again in 2006. I hope that those who have left over yarn they don't know what to do with will also participate.

Finally a Finished Sock!

I finally finished one of the Lithuanian Amber Socks from Nancy Bush's Folk Socks book. It still needs to be blocked, but I am happy with the results. I will cast on for the second sock tonight and knit until I run out of yarn. Then I will need to make a trip to my LYS and get some more. These really are thick socks and won't be worn until next winter. I always seem to finish my winter items just as the weather warms up.

Some items I want to knit in the future are the Flower Basket Shawl, Banff and Clapotis. I need to find a job soon so that I can get started on these projects. I still haven't heard anything about the job I interviewed with twice this week. I am hoping no news is good news.

Sock Happy

Tonight I worked on a couple of socks I am trying to finish. Hopefully I will have a picture of the Lithuanian Amber Sock tomorrow. I am a slow knitter when knitting with color, so it takes me a while to finish a project. I had to put the sweaters down for a while, I want to get some of my other projects finished.

I had a second interview today with a company downtown. I think it went pretty well. I should find out tomorrow if I got the job. I hope I did, they seem like a great company to work for.

Back to Where I Started From

Scott's sweater is finally back to the point where I noticed that my attempt at Continental knitting was a disaster. I hope to finish the back by this weekend so that I can start on the front which will be more interesting to knit. I will post pictures when the back is done.

Some projects I would like to knit in the near future are Rogue, Clapotis, and Banff. I need to find a job so that I can afford the yarn. Speaking of jobs I have an interview tomorrow. Wish me luck, I need it.
